Winner: 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. Both SUVs offer great value and reasonable starting prices, but the Toyota just undercuts its Hyundai counterpart. The RAV4 Hybrid costs $31,225, and the Tucson Hybrid comes in at $31,350. Prices are close at the top end, too. The Tucson Hybrid commands $39,110, while the Toyota carries a $38,530 price tag.

The plug-in hybrid Aviator makes 494 horsepower from an electrified version of the base twin-turbo V6 engine. All-wheel drive comes standard, as does a 10-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy ratings are just mediocre for a plug-in hybrid: 56 MPG-e combined in EV mode and 23 mpg combined in hybrid mode.
